Simple Lie algebras and Weyl character formula

Abstract: This mini course provides a quick overview to the classification of simple Lie algebras through the combinatorics of root systems, emphasizing the famous Weyl character formula and the key ingredients entering its formulation and proof. An important role is played by category O, and we shall end with mentioning Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand resolution categorifying the Weyl formula.
