The FIM's Public Engagement activities aim to promote culture and the scientific method as a tool for understanding reality and progress. The Department pursues these objectives in close collaboration with the world of schools, which represents the main interlocutor of the Department, but also with productive entities, foundations and cultural bodies, at a local, national and international level.

Given the relevance of the dissemination activities, various activities can be consulted in detail on external pages and sites

• The Outreach website is constantly updated with all the autonomous initiatives of the Department for schools , scientific dissemination and orientation ;
• Italian Quantum Weeks reports on initiatives aimed at disseminating quantum mechanics , in collaboration with the CNR IFN , headquarters in Como, and other national bodies and universities;
• Thematic seminars : as part of the University's orientation activities, the Department offers thematic seminars for high schools.

The FIM Department is also involved in the management of museum activities that can be consulted:

• Mathematical Machines Laboratory : a research center on mathematics education in collaboration with the Department of Education and Human Sciences ;
• Collection of historical scientific instruments in the physical field , used in teaching and research in Modena since 1700.
