The FIM's scientific outreach activities aim to promote culture and the scientific method as tools for understanding reality and progress. The Department pursues these goals in close collaboration with schools, which are the Department's primary stakeholders, as well as with businesses, foundations, and cultural organizations at the local, national, and international levels.

- The Outreach website is constantly updated with all the Department's independent initiatives for schools, scientific dissemination and orientation;
- Italian Quantum Weeks report on initiatives aimed at disseminating quantum mechanics, in collaboration with the CNR IFN, Como branch, and other national institutions and universities;
- Thematic seminars : As part of the University's orientation activities, the Department offers thematic seminars for high schools.
The FIM Department is also involved in the management of the museum activities that can be consulted:
Laboratory of Mathematical Machines : a research center on mathematics education in collaboration with the Department of Education and Humanities ;
Collection of historical scientific instruments in the field of physics , used in teaching and research in Modena since 1700.
