The Double Degree Program is an agreement between UNIMORE and the Radboud Universiteit in Nijmegen (NL) dedicated to students enrolled in the M.Sc. in Physics (Laurea Magistrale), a unique opportunity which allows to obtain the Italian and Dutch master degrees simultaneously, after spending a year at each institution. The DDP is accessed through a selection which takes place at the beginning of the M.Sc. program.
Admitted students at UNIMORE will be offered a personalized study plan, according to the candidate's scientific interests, in one of the scientific sectors of the agreement (particles and astroparticles, quantum matter, and neurophysics), integrating the skills acquired at both institutions and finalized to a joint thesis research project. Admitted students will attend the planned courses at UNIMORE during the first year, then move to RU in the second year, which is entirely dedicated to research and training activities aimed at the degree thesis. Students will defend their thesis at one of the two institutions with a joint board of professors. The research program carried on during the year abroad is fully recognized in place of the exams normally scheduled in the second year. Participants in the program are subject to normal university fees (including any concessions) and can benefit from an Erasmus scholarship, according to the usual announcement issued every year.
The Faculty of Science at RU is a European reference center for physics research, home to the HFML, one of the European facilities for the production of ultra-high magnetic fields for the study of matter in extreme conditions, and an institutional partner in Virgo and LISA collaborations for the study of gravitational waves. The program provides access to research programs in particles and astroparticles, quantum matter and neurophysics.
