General information on the Degree in Physics

Class MUR L-30 Class of degrees in physical sciences and technologies

The course of study presents itself

What you study
Our three-year degree course in Physics provides a solid foundation in all aspects of physics, including some technological applications. Electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, dynamics and thermodynamics are studied during the first two years during which experimental skills are also developed thanks to laboratory activities and mathematical and computer skills, with particular attention to the use of computers for scientific applications . During the third year the student is directed towards advanced activities that include both fundamental topics in the physics of matter and topics of a theoretical nature (theoretical physics and computational physics), experimental (physics of matter laboratory, spectroscopic techniques) or applicative (electronics) nature. . During the third year, students have the opportunity to dedicate a substantial part of their time to independent work, with an internship in laboratories of an industry or company, of a University, of a national or international research body. Students can carry out part of their studies abroad within Erasmus mobility programmes.

What you become
The course of studying Physics has as its natural continuation a Master's Degree Course in Physics. The range of professional opportunities that Physics offers is very vast, thanks to the intellectual and practical skills and abilities that are acquired during the course of studies: - a logical/mathematical mind is developed - the ability to solve complex problems is acquired, which is essential in all high-tech work environments, - good IT skills, laboratory data analysis skills and the ability to work in a team are acquired.
Thanks to these skills, physicists find work
- in high-tech industrial sectors, in the development and research laboratories of companies in the electronics, semiconductor, IT, biomedical and mechanical fields.
- in public research bodies and in the academic field
- in teaching
- in the world of finance
- in the field of meteorology and health protection.
