From 4 to 6 July, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia will participate with its team "HackinMore" in the final competition of the eighth edition of the CyberChallenge, which will take place in Turin at the International Training Center for the ILO (ITCILO) . CyberChallenge is the first cybersecurity training program for university and high school students organized by the Cybersecurity National Lab. The Department of Physical, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (FIM) has signed an agreement with CINI, allowing participation in the event.

The team is composed of the students Andrea De Vietro (BSc Computer Science), Salvatore Di Lorenzo (BSc Computer Science), Samuele Carpi (BSc Computer Science), Emilio Cassanelli (BSc Computer Engineering, Modena campus), Samuele Mazzi (MSc Computer Engineering, Modena campus) and Giulio Barabino (MSc Computer Engineering, Modena campus); the instructors are Edoardo Torrini (MSc Computer Engineering, Modena campus), Lorenzo Rossi (MSc Computer Science), Riccardo Cracco (MSc Computer Science student) and Martin Menabue (PhD student at the Modena ICT School).

"I am happy to be able to offer the students an important training experience for their professional growth.", says Mauro Andreolini . "The educational path began with the strict selections in February, continued with the 72-hour course in the period March-May and concluded with the local competition at the end of May (which allowed us to select the six members of the team). I thank the sponsors (VEM Sistemi and Certego) who made our participation in this wonderful event possible. I thank the instructors for the splendid work done, which goes well beyond the technical side. It is thanks to them that the students were able to become a cohesive and homogeneous team. Finally, I thank the students, who demonstrated a desire to learn, tenacity in moments of difficulty and a team spirit that was truly out of the ordinary. Beyond any technical knowledge that we instructors could offer, they were the ones who put themselves on the line, who compared themselves with the other teams and who prevailed."

"We are happy to support this initiative that contributes to the training of talents in a strategic sector for our country such as cyber security.", says Stefano Bossi, CEO of VEM Sistemi. "Our territory is an excellence in cyber security, both for the quality of training and for the presence of leading companies in the sector. I am sure that the passion of these young people will give a new impulse and contribute to the continuous progress in this field."
Bernardino Grignaffini, CEO of Certego, echoes him: "The future of cyber security depends on the training of new generations of experts who possess not only technical knowledge, but also the passion, commitment and curiosity necessary to face emerging challenges. We believe that investing in young talents today means ensuring a safer and more prosperous future for everyone. "

"The transition from team member to instructor was not easy," says Riccardo Cracco. "We tried to convey to our students the technical notions and, also based on last year's experience, those of competition management. Knowing how to work synergistically in a team is essential for success in this competition."
"We are very happy to have participated in this wonderful initiative," says Andrea De Vietro. "We have built a close-knit team inside and outside the laboratory. We can't wait to compete with the best teams in Italy."

We wish the " HackInMore " team all the best for a successful participation in the CyberChallenge 2024 event!
