The Department of Physics, Informatics and Mathematics intends to strengthen its role as an internationally recognized center for Research, Teaching and Third Mission in the field of Physics, Informatics and Mathematics, promoting high-quality research and teaching activities, sustainable and attractive training courses, dissemination and technology transfer initiatives capable of supporting innovation and development of professional skills in the field of scientific research, education and industrial sector.The Department carries out its Research, Teaching and Third Mission activities with responsibility, scientific rigor and special attention to the social impact and aspects of inclusiveness and sustainability of its actions. Research

Teaching
The Department intends to satisfy the student's learning needs in the field of of Physics, Informatics and Mathematics, both in the FIM Study Courses and in those of other Departments (in particular within the School of Engineering), through the transmission of in-depth and updated knowledge and updated, adapted to the current challenges of the profiles required by each Course of Study. The teaching carried out sets high objectives of attractiveness and quality, to allow graduates to compete effectively in the professional and scientific field at a national and international level and to actively contribute to the cultural, economic and ethical development of society.
Third Mission
The Department aims to contribute to the development of society by promoting culture and the scientific method as a tool for understanding reality and progress. It aims to increase the impact of its research through economic valorization initiatives, continuous training and technological transfer. The Department pursues these objectives in close collaboration with schools, production companies, foundations and cultural bodies, at both local, national and international level.
